why wind power?

It's clean.

Wind power does not produce dangerous waste, nor does it contribute to global warming.

It works.

It accounts for approximately 19% of electricity production in Denmark, 9% in Spain and Portugal, and 6% in Germany and the Republic of Ireland (2007 data). Globally, wind power generation increased more than fivefold between 2000 and 2007.

Wind energy is one of the safest energy technologies.

No member of the public has ever been injured by wind energy or wind turbines anywhere in the world, despite the fact that there are now over 68,000 operational wind turbines.

Increasing tourism.

As one of the worlds largest proposed offshore wind parks, Codling is likely to attract tourists once constructed. Boat trips out to the site and local information offices are just some of the ways the public can gain access to Codling.

It creates jobs.

According to the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), a rule of thumb is that one MW gives 12 job years in wind turbine manufacturing. That figure excludes operation and maintenance and other employment, for example developers, banks, insurance companies, associations, etcetera.
