work undertaken to obtain consent and summary findings of the environmental impact assessment
A number of surveys and studies were undertaken to assess the potential environmental effects of a wind farm at Codling Bank. An Environmental Statement was submitted with the application for a Foreshore Lease to the Department of the Marine and Natural Resources and covered the following areas
- Hydrography, Sediments and Coastal Processes
- Water Quality
- Marine Benthos
- Fish
- Birds
- Marine Mammals
- Landscape
- Archaeology
- Construction Effects on Land
- Offshore Noise
- Marine Navigation Effects
- Aviation and Military Impacts
- Socio-Economic Impacts
- Effects on Mineral, Gas and Oil Resources
- Undersea Pipes and Cables
- Telecommunications and Electromagnetic Transmission
In carrying out and presenting the results of the specialist assessments within the Environmental Statement (ES), care has been taken to adopt a worst case approach, to ensure that environmental effects are not underestimated.
